Week 27 - March 2020

Your student will bring home a work packet containing work in the event school is canceled as a health precaution. Please do not have your student work in the packet until asked to do so. I will also send the packet electronically just in case it gets lost.
Our schedule:
          We have our specials from 11:10 till 11:50 each day.
          Monday (3/16) – P.E.
          Tuesday (3/17) – Music
          Wednesday (3/18) – P.E.
          Thursday (3/19) – Music
          Friday (3/20) – Music
Character Counts: Our character focus for the remainder of March and the month of April is CAIRING. We will be reading stories and having discussions about CAIRING for others and what that means.
MATH: We finished the Assessment of Area and Perimeter on Friday. This week we will begin Topic 12, Understanding Fractions as Numbers, this week.  HOMEWORK THIS WEEK ON TUESDAY (3/17) AND THURSDAY (3/19).
Science: Your student will bring a Science Fair Packet home on Monday. Our Science Fair is Thursday, May 7th. Students need to follow the instructions in the packet and finish a display board at home to present at the Science Fair. If you have any questions, please contact me by email and I will help in any way I can.
READING: This week we are talking about Comparing and Contrasting texts.   READING HOMEWORK PACKET DUE FRIDAY, 3/20!!!
SPELLING: New Spelling Lists will come home Monday. Spelling Test will be Thursday, March 19th.
Student of the Week: Our students of the week for 3/16 – 3/20 are Aiden and Ryan. They will be able to share Friday, March 20th.

READING: This week we are talking about nonfiction text and finding evidence in the text to answer questions.   READING HOMEWORK PACKET DUE FRIDAY, 2/28!!!

Don’t forget our field trip tomorrow. We will board the buses at 8:30. The Boise Philharmonic Children’s concert begins at 9:40. We will return to school in time for our regular lunch time. Students may dress in nice concert attire or just wear their normal school clothes. The concert is free.

Our Valentine Party will be Friday, February 14th at 2:00. Students will pass out their valentines and then we will watch the Peanuts Valentine movie. I have large white bags that we will be decorating for students to use for the valentines they receive. If your child has a box or bag at home that they would prefer, they may bring it Friday to use instead.

MATH: We are working on Topic 4: Use Multiplication to Divide; Division Facts
HOMEWORK THIS WEEK ON TUESDAY, 1/21 AND THURSDAY, 1/23!!
WRITING: We are still working on our writing unit this week; Informational Reports. Students have been very busy finding facts about their animals. This week we will learn how to take those facts and put them in our own words.

WRITING: We are working on our new writing unit this week; Informational Reports. This week we will research the animals and organize the information. Students are welcome to research at home and bring the facts they find to school. 
READING: In our Reading this week, we are looking at some Poetry. This is an area that most students don’t get a lot of experience reading. I think they will enjoy it. READING HOMEWORK PACKET DUE FRIDAY, 1/10!!!
SPELLING: NO NEW SPELLING LIST THIS WEEK!! We are reviewing some past lists and reviewing past skills.
