Week 20 - January 2020

I will not be at school tomorrow. Something has come up that I need to take care of. I did not get a chance to talk to the class on Friday about this. Let your child know there will be a sub tomorrow and that I expect their best behavior.
Our schedule:
          We have our specials from 11:10 till 11:50 each day.
          Monday (1/27) – P.E.
          Tuesday (1/28) – Music
          Wednesday (1/29) – P.E.
          Thursday (1/30) – Music
           Friday (1/31) – Music
Character Counts: Our character focus for the rest of January and the month February is FAIRNESS. We will be reading stories and having discussions about being FAIR and what that means.
MATH: We will finish Topic 4: Use Multiplication to Divide; Division Facts, this week. A study guide will come home on Wednesday and the test will be on Friday, January 31st.
HOMEWORK THIS WEEK ON TUESDAY, 1/28
READING: This week we are talking about nonliteral language. (ex. Raining cats and dogs, etc.)  Sometimes it is hard for students to understand what the author is trying to say. READING HOMEWORK PACKET DUE FRIDAY, 1/31!!!
SPELLING: New Spelling Lists will come home on Monday, January 27th. The Pre=test is Thursday and the Test will be on Friday, for those who do not pass on Thursday.
Student of the Week: Our students of the week for 1/27 – 1/31 are Wren and Meg. They will be able to share Friday, January 31st.

February 17: No School – President’s Day

I hope you have enjoyed the three-day weekend. It’s always nice to have an extra day with family.
Our schedule:
          We have our specials from 11:10 till 11:50 each day.
          Tuesday (1/21) – Music
          Wednesday (1/22) – P.E.
          Thursday (1/23) – Music
           Friday (1/24) – P.E
Character Counts: Our character focus for December through January 24th is RESPONSIBILITY. We will be reading stories and having discussions about becoming Responsible and what that means.
MATH: We are working on Topic 4: Use Multiplication to Divide; Division Facts
HOMEWORK THIS WEEK ON TUESDAY, 1/21 AND THURSDAY, 1/23!!
WRITING: We are still working on our writing unit this week; Informational Reports. Students have been very busy finding facts about their animals. This week we will learn how to take those facts and put them in our own words.

Winter is truly here! Please make sure your students have coats, gloves, scarves, boots, etc. for the cold wet weather. If the temperature is above 19°, we have outside recess!

Happy New Year!!!!! And welcome back to school! I am so excited to “get back in the swing of things”! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break! I enjoyed some time with my family. But, now I am ready to begin this New Year. Here’s to a fabulous 2020!!!!!

WRITING: We are working on our new writing unit this week; Informational Reports. This week we will research the animals and organize the information. Students are welcome to research at home and bring the facts they find to school. 
READING: In our Reading this week, we are looking at some Poetry. This is an area that most students don’t get a lot of experience reading. I think they will enjoy it. READING HOMEWORK PACKET DUE FRIDAY, 1/10!!!
SPELLING: NO NEW SPELLING LIST THIS WEEK!! We are reviewing some past lists and reviewing past skills.
